Shiner Bock

Now, some of you may be teetotalers and easily offended by talk of beer, booze or even recreational narcotics. I understand you may have dependency issues or an addictive personality but dude, we all do, we play golf! However, if you are easily offended by our lax attitude towards imbibing, intoxication and over-medicating, do you and us a favor and fuck off.

I know how I am on the course – I duck-hook, I hack the ball out of the cabbage, I flub sand shots, I curse, I hit flyers, I chili dip, I curse more, I three putt from 15 feet – it’s frustrating, especially when that’s just the first hole. But what keeps me rising for the dawn patrol every Saturday is a cold Shiner Bock. Well, maybe not only the Shiner Bock but damn, that’s good beer. It’s flavorful, has a deep, beautiful amber color, and tastes equally great with my morning sausage biscuit as it does with the Nipchee crackers on the sixth, the hot dog with mustard and kraut at the turn, and the bacon burger and fries at the 19th hole.

Shiner also has ties to some of our favorite musicians – the Old 97’s, Robert Earle Keene, Corb Lund, Reckless Kelly – the list goes on. While Shiner is from Texas and has long been associated with Texas music and food, don’t let that stop you from enjoying a cold one on any course in the country. While Shiner does not currently have any golf shirts for sale on their site, you can still show your love and become the envy of the clubhouse crowd with a ball cap or visor.
